about yvette

Yvette Cherry lives in Perth, Western Australia with her husband Leigh and their four daughters. She holds a Bachelor of Education from Curtin University and a Master of Ministry from Morling College. Yvette has a range of experience working in teaching, pastoral ministry and leadership in both church and school settings. She is currently working as a high school English teacher (and absolutely loving it).

Yvette loves camping, reading, big mugs of tea, travelling, writing bad poems, crime podcasts, deep baths, Australian literary fiction, her sisters, her hilarious daughters, teenagers in general, and making people laugh.

Her special interests are Jesus, Bowen Family Systems Theory, feminist theology and helping neurodivergent students flourish.

Her blog is written entirely with her own slightly arthritic fingers, neuro-spicy brain and irregularly-beating (but quite tender) heart; tapping away on her keyboard, with absolutely zero input from Generative AI.  Just the way an English teacher likes it.

You can also find Yvette at www.thetogetherproject.com.au- a website that explores how women and men can flourish together in church leadership. It is a website for people who have long held to a complementarian theology, but have an inkling they might not agree with that anymore.
