One of the upsides of Facebook is that I am now aware of how many wonderful events that are going on in my city- so many things to attend! Retreats, conferences, worship nights, concerts, bands gigging in funky little basements, movies under stars, guest speakers at churches I want to visit, shows, talks, professional development, book launches!
And I’m the kind of girl who wants in on it all.
So this upside is also a downside. Look at all the things I’m missing! Retreats, conferences, worship nights, concerts, bands gigging in funky little basements, movies under stars, guest speakers at churches I want to visit, shows, talks, professional development, book launches!
Wonderful things are passing me by.
I look at Facebook and feel slightly trapped by motherhood and the small ones who need so much.
I cut sandwiches into triangles and after she’s eaten, I tell my three-year-old that it’s time for a nap.
“I don’t want to sleep, Mummy. I want to see you all day!” she says.
I promise her a lollipop and tuck her into bed.
She whispers in my ear, “you’re my best friend.”
And I know everything else can wait.
